We are thrilled to announce the prestigious Philanthropy in Action: Women Impact Awards as part of the Women-Led Climate Philanthropy Initiative launched at Clinton Global Initiative in 2023. These awards aim to offer a global platform that highlights the excellence of women contributing to philanthropy to fuel sustainable development in the Americas - Caribbean, South and North America, including Afro-Caribbean diaspora.

Women-Led Climate Philanthropy

recognizes the disproportionate impact of climate change on women and seeks to address their vulnerabilities through facilitating an eco-system of philanthropy. The initiative also leverages capacity building resources to empower women to create sustainable livelihoods and enhance women climate resiliency.



Connecting 1 Million Women Who Trade (C1WT) initiative

tackles supply-side constraints faced by women who trade through a collaborative network of supporting organizations. The objective is to connect and empower one (1) million women entrepreneurs by increasing access to trade and other resources while empowering support networks in Africa, and the Americas to reduce supply-side constraints to trade.

We Spotlight Climate Change Champions This award honors women who take a comprehensive approach to climate change, considering how it differently affects various groups, especially women. These women excel at cross-sector collaboration, bringing together different cross sector stakeholders to tackle the issue. They are adept at intersectionality and helping others to understand how climate change impacts different groups, particularly women.They are also resourceful, influential within the philanthropy sector, and are successful at securing funding to support essential initiatives and build community resilience in the face of climate change.

We spotlight Afro-Caribbean Diaspora leaders This award recognizes contributions of women who have fostered connections and collaborations between the Afro-Diaspora communities across the world. They are bridge builders and promote unity as well as advocate for the most marginalized such women and/or indigenous communities. They also facilitate philanthropy resources and promote diverse strategies like academic research, arts and culture to strengthen communities and solidarity across borders.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection of women awards begins with a nomination form, which is open to public nominations. See nomination form available here. It will be made available through the CARIBBEAN PHILANTHROPIC ALLIANCE WOMEN IMPACT website portal.
Once nominations are completed, forms will be sent to (2) nominating committees to engage in a review process:

Each Nominating Committee will consist of no more than 10 persons. Committees will include CariPhilAlliance stakeholders and board representatives.

The Youth Nominating Committee will consist of no more than 10 young adults (18 yrs-35 yrs old), and/or young emerging professionals who are part of a growing community of CariPhilAlliance Philanthropy Youth Hub.
